Keeping Winterton House Running: Booster & Tank Replacement

Wed 19 Nov 2025

At PumpServ, we don’t shy away from big jobs. Winterton House in East London - one of the area’s landmark tower blocks - needed carefully project managed replacement of two booster sets and sectional cold water storage tanks.

Here’s how we got it done.

The Work

  • Booster Sets: We supplied, installed, and commissioned two brand-new Lowara GHV30 three-pump variable speed booster sets - one for the low rise, one for the high rise. These units are built to deliver steady pressure across the whole building, improving the comfort of the end user and reducing noise emissions. Thanks to the gradual switching off of the pumps, the potential of “water hammer” is also reduced.
  • Water Tanks: Out went the old storage. In came two WRAS-approved GRP sectional tanks (3m x 1.5m x 1.5m, fully internally flanged) - robust, compliant, and ready to last.
  • Pipework: We replaced and insulated the pipework with foil-faced lagging to keep everything efficient and protected.

Looking After Residents

When you’re working in a building like this, people’s day-to-day lives come first. We delivered two pallets of bottled water, leaving six 2-litre bottles outside every flat. We also set up a solar-powered unisex toilet with proper hand-wash and drying facilities. The idea was simple: make sure the essentials were covered while we handled the heavy lifting.

Doing It Right

Once the gear was in place, we filled, tested, and disinfected all tanks and pipework, following current guidelines to the letter. A full Construction Phase Plan was drawn up and followed to stay in line with CDM regulations. No corners cut.

The Team

Theo, our Project Engineer for this job, and his crew managed the whole project from start to finish. Experienced hands, proper planning, and a focus on getting it right first time - that’s how we work.
